Community Spirit in Tarbrax
There was a real feeling of community spirit at Tarbrax Village Hall on Sunday 12th July as local residents joined WAT IF? (Woolfords Auchengray and Tarbrax Improvement Foundation) for a Community Work Day. Tarbrax resident Mandy Walker kickstarted the work, by applying for a small grant from WAT IF? to improve the external appearance of the hall with new planters and maintenance of the grounds. WAT IF? was happy to get involved to help, with members of the Trust joining forces with other local residents to strim the overgrown grass, weed the external pathways and paint the fence. This work makes a big improvement to the external appearance of the hall and will help make it easier to maintain in the future, as well as being a great opportunity for the community to come together for a good cause; there were even some residents who came up from Woolfords to join in. This is the first Community Work Day which WAT IF? has held, and following on from its success the Trust will be doing more of them in the future, to support local action to improve the area. Mandy Walker has appreciated the help that the Trust has given her project: “WAT IF? played a vital part in getting the work done at Tarbrax, without their support with both the grant application and hands on help it would have been a lot harder to pull resources and people together to get the work day organised.”.
